Jerry “Jay” Thomas is an anti-racist organizer, activist, and abolitionist. He is a Seattle native who was given a 23-year sentence at the age of 23 and is currently incarcerated at Stafford Creek Corrections Center.
As the lead facilitator of the Black Prisoners Caucus TEACH program Jay has displayed the “liberation education” model by ensuring that students enrolled in college level courses fully understand the curriculum and are able to utilize their newfound knowledge throughout their daily lives.
He is an ISSA certified Master Trainer and Transformation Specialist with an emphasis on motivation coaching.
In addition, he is currently working towards his Human Services Associate of Applied Science. He is motivated by the collective power of community and the pursuit of
liberation for all marginalized people. Most importantly he believes that resources should go to each person according to need and from each according to ability.
